‘Forum’-nominated candidates for the election 2021 of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters’ Association (BGMEA) took oath to work selflessly for the advancement of the RMG industry upon their panel introduction at an event titled ‘Forum Panel Introduction’ at Radisson Blu Hotel in the capital on Sunday, says a press release.
Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder; MP, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz, MP; Former BGMEA President Anisur Rahman Sinha; Forum President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury Pervez and Chief Coordinator Benazir Ahmed along with garments manufacturers and exporters were present at the programme.
At this event, Forum formally introduced the panel. ABM Shamsuddin, former Vice-President (Finance) of BGMEA, is leading the Forum Panel. Current BGMEA President Dr. Rubana Huq is also contesting the election as a panel member of Forum.
If elected, the Panel promised to lead the RMG industry to the path of prosperity.
Other Forum nominated candidates for Dhaka are, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Md. Shehabudduza Chowdhury, Inamul Haq Khan (Bablu), Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md. Kamal Uddin, Maashed R. Abdullah, MA Rahim (Feroz), Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Mijanur Rahman, Khan Monirul Alam, AM Mahmudur Rahman, Md. Nafis Ud Doula, Asif Ibrahim, Majumdar Arifur Rahman, Tahsin Uddin Khan, Navidul Huq, Dr. Rashid Ahmed Hossaini, Iqbal Hamid Quraishi (Adnan), Mahmud Hasan Khan (Babu), Md. Rezwan Selim, Faisal Samad, Rana Laila Hafiz, Md. Mesbah Uddin Ali and Nazrul Islam.
Forum nominated candidates for Chattogram are Mohammad Atique, Mohammed Abdus Salam, Md M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Enamul Aziz Chowdhury, Md. Sharif Ullah, Mirza Md. Akbar Ali Chowdhury, Mohammed Didarul Alam, Reaz Weaz and Khondaker Belayet Hossain.
Hard competition between the two rival camps — Sammilita Parishad and Forum –heightened with debates over the voter list and venues and these camps began campaigning after the voter list was finalised on March 4.
The final list has 1,853 voters from Dhaka and 461 from Chattogram.
According to the schedule, the voting will be held at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden hotel and the BGMEA office in Chattogram from 10am to 5pm on April 4.
A total of 70 candidates from the panels will vie for the posts of 35 directors of the BGMEA, according to media reports.
