Four burnt in Ashulia gas leak explosion

Four people were burnt in an explosion at a house in Ashulia, Savar on Wednesday.

They were immediately rescued and admitted to Gonoshasthaya Kendra.

Later, as their conditions deteriorated, they were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The victims were identified as Awal, 35, his 10-year-old daughter Afia, his wife Renu Begum, 25, Afroza Begum, 26.

Besides, Hakim Mia, 40, and Aduri Begum, 27, were also injured while trying to put out the fire.

Although the cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately, the fire service suspects, a sudden explosion caused by a gas leak took place at around 5:00am while cooking.

Two of the burnt victims were in critical condition, the fire service said.
