At least four people were killed in a road accident on the Bogura-Rangpur Highway in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on Friday afternoon.
Police said a Rangpur-bound bus from Dhaka ran over a CNG-run autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction in the Taltala area, leaving the autorickshaw driver dead on the spot.
The driver, Abdul Latif, 45, son of late Abdul Jabbar, hailed from the Uttarpara area of the upazila.
Critically injured three passengers of the autorickshaw died on the way to hospital. Identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
Being informed, Gobindaganj highway police rushed to the spot and detained the bus driver.
The bodies were kept at the highway police outpost, said Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of the highway police outpost.
