The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday conducted a drive at the BDR kitchen market in Uttara to curb the prices of essential items in the month of Ramadan.
A mobile court, led by DNCC executive magistrates Md Mahbub Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan, fined four shops Tk 40,000 for not displaying the price list at visible places and due to a lack of labelling and required information on packaged products, read a press release.
Mahbub Hasan said the drive was conducted as part of DNCC’s regular campaign to curb the prices of essential commodities in Ramadan.
The actions were taken under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, he added.
