Freedom fighter Abdul Gani, the upazila chairman of Debhata, died of Covid-19 in a city hospital early Friday. He was 70.
His son Abdur Razzak said Abdul Gani died at 3:30am.
His tested positive for Covid-19 and was taking treatment in home quarantine, Razzak said.
On August 3, he was shifted to a specialised hospital in Dhaka as his condition deteriorated. He was later put on life-support.
Gani was a former commander of Debhata Muktijodhha Sangsad and leader of Awami League's district unit.
