Freight train derailed at Mogbazar

Three compartments of a Dhaka-bound freight train have derailed in Dhaka’s Mogbazar rail-cross area at around 11:45am on Friday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Assistant Commissioner (Ramna-traffic) Refayatul Islam confirmed the matter and said as the train derailed near the railway crossing, the movement of the vehicles under the flyover road from Mogbazar to Tejgaon closed.

"We immediately call a wrecker from Rajarbagh Police as well as communicate with the railway department. Railway authorities then brought in new engines and removal devices," he said.

Later, within one and half an hour, they removed derailed compartments and normalised the traffic, he added.

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the incident.
