The government-announced partial restrictions on people’s movement came into effect on Monday morning to contain the Covid-19 transmission in the country.
Besides, complete nationwide restrictions will be enforced from Thursday.
On Monday, police check posts were seen set up at different points on the roads of the capital.
People were seen to go to their destinations by rickshaws, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, private transports, office vehicles and on foot since Monday morning.
The government on Sunday suspended operations of all modes of public transports across Bangladesh during the fresh Covid restrictions from 6:00am Monday to 6:00am Thursday.
Only goods-laden vehicles and rickshaws will be allowed to ply, according to a circular issued by the Cabinet Division on Sunday.
Shopping malls, markets, tourist spots, resorts, community and entertainment centres would remain shut during the period, it said.
Food shops and restaurants can operate (online and takeaway services) from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
The government offices and private organisations would ensure the presence of necessary officials and staffers on their own arrangements, the circular added.
