Fugitive ‘JMB member’ held in Dhaka

The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police arrested a suspected member of the banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB) in Dhaka’s Kuril Bishwa Road area on Monday night.

The arrested Md Monwar Hossen, 28, is the son of Ayub Mia of Golamunda village under Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari.

"A team of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police arrested Monwar during a drive in the city's Kuril Bishwa Road under Bhatara police station around 9:45pm," ATU ASP (Media) Wahida Parveen told BSS.

Monwar, who was on the run for 12 years, is a fugitive accused in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act with Hathazari police station in Chattogram.

Necessary legal action has been taken against him, the police official added.
