The Uttara Express Train left Natore’s Abdullahpur Railway Station around 12:40pm on Saturday, two hours after the engine car started fuming.
People noticed smoke coming from the engine car of the Uttara Express Train at around 10:30am, while it was stationed at Abdullahpur junction in Natore's Lalpur upazila, Bangladesh Railway Western Region General Manager Asim Kumar Talukder confirmed the matter.
The authorities bought it under control as soon as possible and no casualty or damage was reported in the incident.
Later, another locomotive was brought from Ishwardi and the train departed the junction.
“The engine was 45 years old and the incident occurred due to the reduction in the insulation level of the engine's traction motor,” Asim said.
