A truck helper was killed and another injured when a gas cylinder exploded at a CNG station in the city's Mugda area on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Saddam Hossain Sardar, 26, son of Salam Talukder of Chamta village, Naria upazila of Shariatpur district.
In the incident Himel was injured, Bachchu Mia, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp confirmed it.
DMP's Mugda police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Mubaidul Islam said the explosion took place when the truck was taking gas at Best Eastern CNG and Filling Station in Mugda around 5 am on Tuesday.
Saddam was standing next to the truck. Suddenly the gas cylinder of the truck exploded that left Saddam dead on the spot.
SI Mubaidul said investigations are ongoing to know the actual reason behind the explosion.
Saddam's body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
