Seven people, including four women and one child, were burnt in a gas line explosion in the capital's Mirpur area on Wednesday night.
The explosion occurred at around 11:30pm on Wednesday in a six-storey building in Mirpur.
They have been admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police outpost, confirmed the matter.
Citing doctors on duty, he said the condition of the burn victims was critical.
Rafiqul Islam, the son of the building owner, said the gas line of the six-storey house had been faulty for some time. Although repaired several times, it was not completely fixed.
The explosion occurred when a mechanic came to repair the gas connection Wednesday night and lit a fire at the ground floor stove to check the line after repairing, he added.
On information, three units of the Mirpur Division Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, said Kamrul Hasan, duty officer of the control room of the fire service.
