Gazette notification issued prioritising merit

The government on Tuesday issued a gazette notification regarding the reformed quota in government, semi-government, autonomous organisations’ recruitment prioritising merit.

The notification was signed by Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, on Tuesday. The order will be effective immediately, reports UNB.

It said that 93 per cent of the recruitment will be made on the basis of merit while 5 per cent quota is for the children of valiant freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters and Biranganas.

One per cent quota is for ethnic minorities, while 1 per cent quota is for candidates with disabilities and of third gender.

However, if the eligible candidates cannot be recruited from the designated quota, the vacant posts will be filled up from the merit list.

All gazette notifications, orders and directives including circular of October 4, 2018, have been abolished.

New quota system will be followed while recruiting employees in government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions, statutory bodies and different corporations in all grades for ensuring the policy of equity and the representation of underprivileged groups of society in the works of the republic.
