Gold price in Bangladesh hit a record high exceeding Tk 1 lakh per bhori (11.664g) as the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) on Thursday decided to hike the prices of this precious metal by Tk 2,333 a bhori.

BAJUS increased the prices as the rate of pure gold went up in the local market, read a press release, adding that the revised prices will be effective from Friday.

Until further notice, 22-carat gold will cost Tk 1,00,777, which was Tk 98,444 per bhori previously.

According to the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold has been increased by Tk 2,275 to Tk 96,228 up from Tk 93,953 per bhori.

The price of 18-carat gold has gone up by Tk 1,924 to Tk 82,464, which was Tk 80,540 per bhori previously. And traditional gold price has been increased by Tk 1,574 to Tk 68,700, up from Tk 67,126 per bhori.

The price of silver remains unchanged for now. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 1,715 per bhori.
