Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) on Wednesday decided to increase the price of gold to Tk 1.09 lakh per bhori – a record high.
The standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of BAJUS took the decision in a meeting on Wednesday as the price of pure gold increased in the local market, read a press release.
The new price will be effective from Thursday.
According to the new rate, the price of 21-carat gold has been increased by Tk 1,633 to Tk 1,4,859 per bhori.
Besides, the price of 18-carat gold has been increased by Tk 1,458 to Tk 89,929 per bhori. The traditional gold price has been increased by Tk 1,225 to Tk 74,941 per bhori.
The existing price of per bhori of 22-carat gold ornaments is Tk 1.08 lakh. In July, the gold price crossed Tk 100,000-mark for the first time in Bangladesh.
