Gold prices decline by Tk 1,166 a bhori

Gold prices in the country's market have declined by Tk 1,166 per bhori (11.668 grams), effective from Wednesday.

The decision of the price reduction was made considering the complex situation of the global economy due to the Omicron variant, Bangladesh Jewelers Samity (BAJUS) said in a press release on Tuesday.

Under the decreased rates, 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 6,270, 21-carat gold at Tk 6,000, and 18-carat gold will be sold at Tk 5,250 per gram in the local market.

Besides, the price for the traditional method gold has been fixed at Tk 4,365 per gram.

BAJUS has kept the prices of silver unchanged.

Prices of gold earlier on November 12 rose by Tk 2,333 per bhori.

On August 6 last year, the price of gold in Bangladesh was Tk 77,216 per bhori which was the highest in the history of the country.
