A massive fire gutted the North Bengal Jute Mill in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura on Sunday afternoon.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
Jute mill owner Subhash Prasad Kanu said jute and other equipment inside the mill were burnt in the fire that erupted around 3:00pm.
“It caused damages worth around Tk 40 lakh,” he claimed.
On information, five firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after three hours of frantic efforts, AKM Abdul Malek, deputy assistant director of Bogura Fire Service and Civil Defense.
The estimated loss in the fire could be Tk 10-15 lakh, he said.
The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
