Govt compensates 58 persons for acquiring land in Rajshahi

The government has given Tk 22.6 crore as compensation to 58 more persons for acquiring their land for various development projects in the city.

The government has acquired their lands for implementation of different projects, including BKSP, police station building, Forces Barrack, city road widening, Survey Institute Construction, Buffer Warehouse and water treatment plant.

The cheques of compensated money were distributed at a function at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Monday afternoon.
 
DC Abdul Jalil accompanied by Local Government Division Deputy Director Shahana Akhter Jahan, Charghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sohrab Hossain and Land Acquisition Officer Sanjida Sultana distributed the cheques.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Jalil said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing diversified projects for overall development of the country.

The government is very much positive to compensate the people whose lands are acquired for the projects timely, he added.
 
He urged all quarters to extend their wholehearted cooperation for successful implementation of the projects.
 
Earlier, 66 other affected landowners were given Tk 5.30 crore as compensation for the same purposes in two phases.
