Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Wednesday said the government is considering bringing an amendment to the code of civil procedure so that civil cases can be disposed of quickly.

"We would be able to create an outline in this regard soon. People's confidence will increase in the judiciary if we can do it," he said.

The minister said these while addressing a function to distribute keys of 16 microbuses for the use of the judges of district and sessions judge's courts, chief metropolitan magistrate courts and chief judicial magistrate courts at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI).

"Earlier, many district judges had to commute on rickshaws. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government has changed that scenario. She is doing whatever is needed to uphold the dignity of the judges," Anisul added.

He urged the judges to ensure the fact that the court shall remain the last refuge for the people.

"On one hand, we know that 'justice delayed, justice denied', on the other hand, it is also true that 'justice hurried is justice buried'. It is necessary to bring a balance between both of these," the minister further said.

Law and Justice Division Secretary Golam Sarwer, Joint Secretary Umme Qulsum were present, among others, on the occasion.
