The government has already implemented various development programmes to improve the living standard of country’s down-stream areas’ people, Post and telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said on Monday.
“The life-style of the Haor people has been totally changed now as the government at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has improved road communication network in the haor areas and brought the entire haor areas under internet connections”, he said.
Mustafa Jabbar made the remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed ferry ghat on the river Dono at Rasulpur area under Khaliajury upazila in Natrokona. Netrakona Roads and High ways Department constructed the ferry ghat at a cost of Tk 89 lakhs.
“Now the haor areas are not known as ‘remote areas,’ as the haor people can now enjoy modern life style, they can communicate with other parts of the country as well as the whole world within a moment through internet,” he said.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Netrakona Anjana Khan Mojlish, the function was addressed, among others, by Chairman of Khaliajury Upazila Parishad Rabbani Jabbar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Royal Sangma, Executive Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Shariar Sharif Khan, and local Awami League leaders.
