The Local Government Division (LGD) of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry has formed a coordination cell to contain further transmission of coronavirus.
The 15-member cell was formed on Tuesday (June 23) with Additional Secretary of Local Government Division Zahirul Islam as the convener.
The cell will coordinate the implementation of all the responsibilities assigned to the departments and agencies under LGD as per the directives of the Prime Minister and the recommendations of the National Committee.
The cell will ensure coordination between the activities of the agencies of Local Government Division and other departments of the government.
In addition, the cell will coordinate city corporation provided civic services in red zones involving volunteers, public representatives, imams, NGO representatives and eminent personalities.
