The government on Tuesday issued a notification extending the lockdown period for another week starting from April 21 til April 28.
The Cabinet Division issued the notification announcing the extension.
As per the notification, all modes of public transports, including those of roads, riverways, railways and air, will remain suspended during the period.
The notification said, "Considering the current situation of Covid-19 in the country, all previous restrictions have been extended from on April 21 midnight to April 26 midnight."
However, special international flights and banking activities on a limited scale will continue as it was on the first week of lockdown.
Also, the restriction will not be effective in the case of carrying goods, emergency services and production.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossian on Monday told reporters that the lockdown will remain in force from April 22 to 28 with the same restrictions imposed in the previous week.
Bangladesh has been experiencing a surge in Covid-19 deaths and infections over the past month. To contain the spead of the coronavirus, the government imposed strict lockdwon from April 14 to 21 across the country.
With today's notification, the government officially extended the lockdown period until April 28.
