The Ministry of Food has started a special drive against illegal stockpiling of paddy and rice by illicit traders to ensure a steady supply of rice in the domestic market and to expedite the flow of rice and rice products.
A total of eight teams from the ministry will conduct the drive, read a press release issued on Tuesday.

The government move came after a decision was taken at a weekly cabinet meeting on May 30.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said in the meeting that stern action will be taken against those who are engaged in the unauthorised business and hoarding of paddy and rice hoarders in the country.
