Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday said the government is not doing anything to harass Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus.

“Government has not filed any false case against Yunus. The government is not harassing him. That case was filed by the labourers. The department which is there to protect the rights of the labourers has filed the case,” he said while addressing a press briefing at the ministry, media reports say.

“In spite of having all the evidences against Yunus, it is being propagated abroad that all the allegations against him are false and we are doing these to harass him. No one is above the law. Whoever commits crime has to face the justice,” Anisul added.

The law minister further said Bangladesh does not run by anyone’s instruction as it has its own laws and the country will be governed according to that law.

“I would not talk about any under trial case. But I cannot keep mum where attempts are being made to tarnish the dignity of the country. That is why I have called this briefing to explain the perspective of the labour law violation case filed against Yunus,” Anisul Huq said.

He urged the journalists to present before the public the facts and real information about the case filed against Yunus.
