Govt reappoints six ambassadors, high commissioners

The government on Monday (June 15) extended contractual appointments of six ambassadors and high commissioners until July 31, 2020.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification on Monday confirming their extension.

The envoys are posted in Brunei, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Italy and Switzerland as representatives of Bangladesh.

Air Vice Marshal (retd) Mahmud Hussain was reappointed as the High Commissioner to Brunei, while Golam Moshi was reappointed as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, SM Abul Kalam, ambassador to Kuwait, Abu Maksud M Forhad, ambassador to Iraq, Abdus Sobhan Sikder, ambassador to Italy, and M Shameem Ahsan was reappointed as the permanent representative to the United Nations and ambassador to Switzerland.

The conditions of their previous contracts will remain unchanged for contractual reappointments of the ambassadors and high commissioners, the notification said.
