The government has increased the wage of workers who are hired to work on daily-wage basis at various government institutions by 100 taka.
The finance division on Wednesday issued an office order signed by its joint secretary Md Hasanul Motin to increase the daily wage of these workers by Taka 100.
Earlier, on May 24, 2016, the last wage was rescheduled by the Finance Division. According to the new decision, the wage has been increased by Taka 100 in each case.
As per the new order, the daily wage of skilled workers in Dhaka and Chattogram City Corporation areas has been fixed at Taka 600 – it was Taka 500. The wage of irregular unskilled workers has been fixed at Taka 575, which was Taka 475 before.
In addition, the daily wage of skilled workers in the divisional cities and other city corporation areas has been fixed at Taka 600 – it was Taka 500. The wage of irregular unskilled workers has been fixed at Taka 575 – it was Taka 475.
Similarly, the Taka 100 raise makes the wage of skilled workers in district and upazila at Taka 550 and the wage of irregular unskilled workers at Taka 500.
Additionally, the finance division has issued some conditions with the order.
According to the conditions, the number of workers must be approved by the appropriate authority.
This expenditure must be borne by the concerned ministry or divisions or directorate or directorate or department or agency from its own budget allocation.
No additional allocation can be demanded in this sector and monthly based workers cannot be hired at the mentioned daily wage rate.
The rescheduling rate is also applicable to the division against which the rate of daily wage was earlier fixed by the Finance Division on a case-by-case basis.
If any irregularity is observed in this regard, the order mentioned, the bill paying authority will be responsible.
In case of this expenditure, all the financial rules and regulations must be followed properly.
The daily rescheduled wage rate will be effective from the date of issuance of the order.
