Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday said the government has saved about Tk 20,000 crore by collecting vaccines of Covid-19 from different sources and it has been possible only for dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The minister made the comment while addressing the 16th International Science Conference- 2022 organised by Bangladesh Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) at a city hotel.

The minister said the doctors of the country are very talented. People would come from abroad for treatment purposes if the doctors become more cautious while doing their duties, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Ministry member Saimum Sarwar Kamol, Directorate General of Health Services Prof Dr ABM Khorshed Alam, Swadhinata Chikithshok Parishad President M Iqbal Arsalan, Bangladesh Medical Association Secretary General Dr Ehtashamul Haque Chowdhury and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Pro Vice-Chancellor (admin) Prof Choef Uddin Ahmed, addressed the conference as special guests with BAUS President Prof Habibur Rahman in the chair.

BAUS Secretary General Professor Dr Towhid Mohammad Saiful Hossain Dipu and Urology Society India President Dr Rabindra Balachandra Sabnis, among others, also addressed the conference.

The theme of the conference of this year was ‘Donate Kidney, Save Life’. A total of 342 urologists from different countries, including China, Thailand, Singapore, India and the USA, are taking part in the conference.

The conference will be ended on May 7.
