Govt takes elaborate programme for historic March 7

The government has drawn up elaborate programme to observe the historic March 7 national day on Sunday in a befitting manner with maintaining health guidelines.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid today announced programme marking the day at a press conference at Jatiya Natyashala seminar room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy here.

The programme includes hoisting of national flag in the dawn, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the premises of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi road number 32.

A function will be arranged at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) at 3pm.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join it on virtual platform as the chief guest.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will join it as special guests while KM Khalid will chair it.

Chief Coordinator of National Implementation Committee for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Centenary Observance Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury will present the keynote.

Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Badrul Arefin will deliver welcome address.

Seating capacity for not more than 500 guests will be arranged at the programme with maintaining health guidelines while the record of the historic March 7 speech will be played.

Docudrama and cultural function will also be arranged, he added.

Education Ministry and Liberation War Affairs Ministry will take up their own programme to observe the day.

Cultural function will also be held and documentary on Bangabandhu will be displayed.

Cultural function, photo-exhibition and showing of documentary will also be arranged at district and upazila levels.

Different competitions including delivering of Bangabandhu’s speech, poem recitation, drawing, performance of songs and dances will be arranged for students of schools and colleges.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will also arrange a discussion and fireworks on the premises of historic Ahsan Manzil. DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh will join it as the chief guest.

Key city streets and points including from Sikkha Bhaban to Foreign Affairs Ministry, Shapla Chattar, Dhaka University Teacher-Student Centre, Curzon Hall, Fine Arts Faculty, National Museum, entry points to the capital, flyovers and foot over-bridges will be decorated with banners and festoons.
