Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the government will collect coronavirus vaccines from any source without any delay.
The minister said this to the reporters on Wednesday during the online briefing of the cabinet committee on public purchase.
The minister said he has already discussed with the health minister and provided some directives about the matter.
Health minister will immediately sit with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about the collection of vaccines against the novel coronavirus, he said.
He also said that it is not the right time for collection of vaccines.
The minister said, "Russia is a single source, so we should not depend on a single source. If necessary, we will collect the vaccine from other sources as well."
"We will not directly communicate with the Oxford for Covid-19 vaccine, but India and Bangladesh can collect that vaccine together," he said.
In a startling and confusing move, Russia claimed on Tuesday it had approved the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine, as the nation’s ministry of health issued what it called a registration certificate for a vaccine that has been tested on just 76 people.
