Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Friday said the present government is working relentlessly for equal development of all the small ethnic groups and communities like Garo, Hajong, Marma and Chakma, regardless of their religion and caste.

“The present government believes in the equal rights of all the people and working relentlessly for equal development of all,” the minister said while addressing the Wangala festival of the Garo community as chief guest at Banani Bidyaniketon School and College, read a press release.

“The government wants to establish amity and harmony among all the communities. But a vested quarter wants to damage this harmony and we all have to remain united against them,” he added.

Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque further said the present government stopped the harassment of the Forest Department against people of small ethnic groups, adding, “not a single Garo person has been arrested in last 14 years in Modhupur area.”
