Agriculture Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Saturday said the incumbent government is working relentlessly to ensure safe and nutritious food for all.

“Therefore, efforts are on for better production of the crops and the production activities have already started in line with good agricultural methods. If the crops are produced in compliance with these methods, the nutritional value of the food will remain intact and the environment will not be harmed,” he said.

The minister was addressing a technical session titled “Valo Uthpadone Valo Pushti, Ar Valo Poribeshei Unnata Jiban” (Good nutrition in good production, and better life in good environment) on the occasion of the World Food Day-2021 at the Hotel InterContinental Dhaka as the chief guest.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

Abdur Razzaque said the government is taking and implementing effective initiatives in agricultural mechanisation, commercialisation and processing.

The government has put emphasis on increasing the export of agricultural products and producing high-value cash crops, he added.

FAO Director General QU Dongyu addressed the event virtually while Senior Secretary to the Agriculture Ministry Md Mesbahul Islam presided over it.

Food Secretary Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum spoke it as special guest.

Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council Executive Chairman Shaikh Mohammad Bokhtiar, Department of Agricultural Extension Director General Md Asadullah and several high officials of the government attended the event.
