Hajj registration for devotees is ending on Thursday. Within this deadline, the total number of registrants will be reported to the Saudi government, and any remaining quota will be returned.

It should be noted that even half of the allocated quota has not been fulfilled as yet. This year, there is a quota of 1,27,198 devotees from Bangladesh. As of Wednesday morning, 64,045 people have registered so far.

Among them, 3,976 were registered under government management, and 60,069 were registered under non-governmental management. There are still 63,153 quotas available, sources say.

Hajj registration for the season started on September 16 last year with a deadline of December 10, which was extended multiple times. It was first extended to December 31, then to January 18, and finally to February 1 – due to a lower-than-expected response.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is developing a plan to accommodate approximately two million people for the upcoming Hajj in Mecca. The Mecca City Mayor's office aims to license 4,000 buildings, providing 500,000 rooms for accommodation.

The plan is to house the pilgrims in these rooms, with 1,000 buildings already licensed. Last year, 1.8 million pilgrims participated in the Hajj. The holy Hajj will be held on June 16 (9th Zilhaj of 1445 Hijri) subject to moon sighting.
