Hasina now being sued over student killing

Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina – along with 23 others – is being sued over the shooting and killing of Faizul Islam Rajon, 18, a 12th grade student of Dhaka Model Degree College.

Rajon’s brother Rajib, 32, filed the case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (CMM) on Wednesday, reports Amader Shomoy. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir has ordered the Kafrul police station to take the plaintiff’s statement.

Earlier the same day, a case was filed against Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan and five others for kidnapping lawyer Sohel Rana from the city’s Uttara area, and holding him in secret for 6 months.

After hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury ordered the Uttara West Police Station to take the plaintiff’s statement in the case.

Back on Tuesday, businessman SM Amir Hamza Shatil filed a case against 7 people including Sheikh Hasina, former Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal for the murder of grocery shopkeeper Abu Sayed, 45.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury had ordered Mohammadpur Police Station to accept the plaintiff’s statement for that case.
