Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent 2,600 kg of native-variety mangoes as a gift to her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
The gift was officially handed over to the Indian authorities in a Bangladeshi truck through Benapole port in Jashore on Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner of Customs Anupam Chakma said after completing all the customs and port formalities, the consignment of mangoes was sent in 260 cartons.
Kolkata's first secretary (political) Mohammad Sunnyul Quader received the packages of mangoes at Benapole checkpost's no man's land.
Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mir Alif Reza, Benapole Municipality Mayor Ashraful Alam Liton, Benapole Customs House Deputy Commissioner Anupam Chakma, Benapole Port Acting Director Abdul Jalil, Deputy Director (Traffic) Mamun Kabir Tarf Navaran Circle ASP Jewel Imran and Assistant Commissioner Kalyan Mitra, were present during the handover ceremony.
