The High Court on Wednesday (August 5) granted bail to Rangpur’s Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) teacher Sirajum Munira in a case filed over making satirical remarks on late former Health Minister and Awami League leader Mohammad Nasim.
A High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan granted the bail plea after a virtual hearing.
Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua joined the hearing on behalf of the bail petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Jahangir Alam represented the state opposing the bail.
Earlier, Sirajum filled the petition with the HC's virtual bench on July 23.
On June 18, BRUR authorities suspended Sirajum Munira after she had been arrested.
