HC imposes travel ban on Dhamaka top officials

The High Court in a rule on Sunday imposed a travel ban on all directors of controversial e-commerce platform Dhamaka Shopping.

A bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order following a writ filed by the Dhamaka Shopping Seller Association.

“The court also asked the directors of the e-commerce firm to refrain from selling movable and immovable assets belonging to them and the company,” petitioner and the association’s President Jahangir Alam Emon told The Business Post.

Responding to the writ petition, the High Court also issued a rule asking why the sellers of the e-commerce platform should not be given back their money, he added.

Recently, the Ministry of Commerce has sought bank details of Dhamaka Shopping and 41 other e-commerce companies, accused of luring customers with deceptive offers, from the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit.

Earlier in September, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Dhamaka Shopping Chief Operating Officer Sirajul Islam Rana and two others in a case filed on charges of fraudulence and money embezzlement.
