The High Court has refused to hear a writ petition that challenged the legality of the notice served by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa over her alleged accumulation of wealth.
The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel refused to hear the writ when the lawyers brought it to the bench on Monday.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan was present in favour of the ACC while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik was present in favour of the state before the court.
Earlier on November 1, a writ petition was filed before the High Court challenging the legality of the notice served by the ACC on DAG Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa as part of its probe into the alleged accumulation of wealth beyond her known sources of income.
Earlier on October 28, ACC summoned DAG Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa on charges of colluding with various accused including expelled Juba League leader Golam Kibria Shamim.
The ACC sent a letter on the same day to Rupa to appear at the ACC head office on November 4 for questioning. According to the letter, the DAG has been charged with irregularities, corruption, abuse of power and bribery through forgery and collusion with various accused including GK Shamim thereby acquiring illicit wealth.
