A Dhaka court today fixed April 20 for a hearing over the final report of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) on the death of iconic silver screen actor Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiduzzaman Sharif set the new date on Tuesday.
Earlier on February 25, 2020, the PBI submitted the charge sheet to a Dhaka court, stating clearly that the actor had not been murdered. According to the PBI report, Salman Shah was not murdered but died by suicide in 1996.
On September 6, 1996, Salman Shah’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room at his Eskaton residence in Dhaka and also police recovered a 'suicide note' from his residence.
Later, Salman Shah’s father Kamaruddin Chowdhury filed the unnatural death case with Ramna police station and also applied to the authorities to turn it into a murder case, alleging that his son was murdered.
On December 7, 2016, a Dhaka court asked PBI to carry out further investigation into the case. PBI interrogated 44 people including Shabnur and Samira.
