Police arrested a leader of Hefazat-e-Islam in Dhaka’s Mugda area in the early hours of Saturday.
A team of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Motijheel division) conducted a drive and apprehended Mufti Rezwan Rafiquee.
DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner Iftekhairul Islam (media and public relations) confirmed the news of arrest. He, however, did not disclose the charges brought against the Islamist group leader.
Earlier, Hefazat claimed Rezwan was picked up by a group of plain-clothes men.
