Hefazat’s strike: 2 killed in B’baria clashes

Two people were killed in separate clashes in Brahmanbaria’s Sarail upazila during the countrywide strike (hartal) enforced by Hefazat-e-Islam on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Alamin, 16 and Kalu Mia, 24.

Ashraf, an uncle of Alamin, confirmed the matter to The Business Post.

Hefazat-e-Islam activists attacked a Chattogram-bound train at Talshohor Rail Station in Brahmanbaria town during the strike (hartal).

Train communications between Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Sylhet remained suspended since morning following the attack.

Police opened fire to disperse the some supporters while they were setting fire to Khatihata Highway Police Outpost and Diamoni Super Market in Sarail.

Hefazat-e-Islam called the dawn-to-dusk strike to protest police action on their anti-Modi processions in Dhaka, Chattogram and other districts.
