Helena Jahangir, a businessperson who was sacked from an Awami League subcommittee, has obtained bail in two cases filed with Gulshan and Pallabi police stations in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Emrul Kayesh passed the order on Tuesday after hearing her bail petitions in the cases.

One of the lawsuits was lodged under the Special Powers Act with Gulshan police station while another was filed on charges of fraud with Pallabi police station.

Earlier, a Dhaka court on August 17 granted her bail in a case filed under the Telecommunication Act.

Helena’s lawyer Shafiqul Islam said his client cannot be released from jail at the moment as she is yet to get bail in another case filed under the Digital Security Act.

On July 29, Rapid Action Battalion detained Helena Jahangir from her Gulshan residence following a raid.

RAB seized foreign liquors, illegal walkie-talkie sets, sharp weapons, foreign currencies, casino equipment and a deer hide in the raid.

Later, the battalion conducted a drive at her illegal internet protocol television (IPTV) channel named Joyjatra Television and sealed it off.
