Ekushey Padak winner philanthropist Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman has urged students of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) to remain equally polite to every human being and help people as best as they can.

“Success in life is measured not by the academic degree one achieved, it is measured by how much contribution a person can make on people's lives,” said Sufi Mizanur, founder and chairman of Board of Trustees at the UITS.

Praising the university’s achievement in building the nation, he said, “UITS is contributing not only to create technology experts in the country, but also to create enlightened and patriotic citizens for the country by providing both academic and moral lessons.

Sufi Mizanur made the remarks while addressing the concluding ceremony of ZERO ONE FEST 2023 on the UITS campus in the capital's Baridhara on Thursday.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in cooperation with the UITS Computer Club organised the 5th edition of the festival on its campus.

The two-day long festival incorporates a number of co- and extracurricular activities, including a Programming Contest, National Cyber-drill, Seminar/Workshops, Poster Presentation, Hackathon, Project Showcasing, Photography Exhibition, Indoor and Outdoor games, Gaming Contest and Cultural Program.

The ZERO ONE FEST is one of the biggest festivals of UITS, and the Department of CSE has been annually organising this event since 2014.

Presided by the Vice-Chancellor of UITS Prof Md Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, the gala event was attended by the adviser of the University’s Board of Trustees and former proctor of Dhaka University Prof KM Saiful Islam Khan, Treasurer Professor Dr Siraj Uddin Ahmed, ICT icon BUET Prof M Kaykobad, Controller of Examinations Prof ANM Sharif, Dean of CSE faculty Prof Md Mazharul Hoque, Head of CSE Department Prof Md Mijanur Rahman.

The ceremony commenced through the welcome speech by the Head of the Department Prof Md Mijanur Rahman on the first day of the program.

The main attraction of Day 1 of the fest was the Inter University Programming Contest, which was attended by 52 teams, 42 of them being from other universities. The contest was inaugurated by Prof M Kaykobad.

The Day 1 featured two seminars on the titles of “Career in Software Engineering” and “Road to Success in Professional Career” conducted by prominent professionals from the ICT Industry.
