Advisor of the interim government on home affairs Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday urged the police officials to keep them above all corrupt practice saying none to be found indulging would be spared.

“At any cost corruption will be prevented,” he said while exchanging views with high officials of the police department at Police Headquarters, reports BSS.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam briefed the adviser about the current challenges and future action plans of the Bangladesh Police.

“We have undertaken an initiative to transform Bangladesh Police into a service oriented force through necessary reforms,” he added.

As senior police officers presented various proposals, the adviser assured them of implementing those proposals in phases.

“Police should be people-friendly through their work,” Jahangir Alam said. Emphasising the importance of maintaining discipline, he said Bangladesh Police is a disciplinary force.

There is no scope to compromise with this moral obligation.
