Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Sunday urged the students to make themselves a skilled workforce through acquiring knowledge for building an economically advanced country.

“Today's students are the builders of future Bangladesh. Therefore, they will have to make themselves skilled in manpower. It is not enough to get a traditional degree, but the ability to compete at home and abroad will have to be acquired,” he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the “NUB Business Festival-2024” at Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) auditorium in the city, read a press release.

Dhaka-18 Constituency Lawmaker Mohammad Khosru Chowdhury and Secretary of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Shamsul Arefin spoke on the occasion as special guests while NUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Anwar Hossain presided over it.

Humayun said there is enough demand for skilled human resources in the developed world including Japan, Europe and America.

“Not only the outside world, our Bangladesh with 17 crore people is also a big market. There are many employment opportunities here,” he added.

He said his ministry is working to create new employment opportunities.
