A massive demonstration by Uyghur Muslims Odhikar Samarthak Parshad (Uyghur Muslims Rights Support Council) held in Brahmanbaria on Friday demanded an end to China's inhuman treatment of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang province in China.
About 1000 people including Islamic scholars, madrasa teachers, students and the general public took part in the protest.
They demanded religious freedom for Uyghur Muslims and called on the Bangladesh government to raise the issue with the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
A prayer meeting for the hapless Uyghur Muslims was also held.
Placards depicting the inhuman treatment of Uyghur Muslims by China were raised in the demonstration.
