Hundreds of commuters gathered at Paturia jetty on Monday in a mad rush to go home ahead of Eid-ul Fitr defying the government’s restrictions over the coronavirus outbreak.
Despite the suspension on the ferry operation, homebound people were seen flocking at the jetty area since morning, hoping to cross the river.
Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh teams have been deployed on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Shimulia-Banglabazar routes in Manikganj and Munshiganj from Saturday night to stop the mad rush of homebound people.
