The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued a death warrant against Jatiya Party leader and former state minister Syed Mohammed Kaiser.
Sayeed Ahmad, registrar of the International Crimes Tribunal, confirmed the matter, saying they received a full copy of the verdict from the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
On January 14, 2020, the Supreme Court rejected Syed Mohammed Kaiser’s appeal against his death sentence by a war crimes tribunal, upholding the sentence.
A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain issued the verdict.
Earlier on December 23, the tribunal sentenced Kaiser to death for crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War. He was convicted of murder, arson, loot, rape and genocide.
The tribunal sentenced him to death on seven counts of charges, including two counts of rape.
In the appeals verdict, the Supreme court also upheld Kaiser’s death sentence on the seven counts of charges. Besides, his jail term until death on one count of charges was also upheld.
