IED bomb found in Narayanganj police box

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bomb on Monday was found in a traffic police box in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj at Signboard area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

At around 4:30 pm, Narayanganj District Traffic Police Sergeant Asif Hossain noticed the bomb in a bag and away from the police box with other policemen.

He said, "In the afternoon I saw a bomb-like object in the bag and informed the senior officers."

Sidhirganj Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Mashiur Rahman said, "We surrounded the Signboard traffic police box area. A DMP bomb disposal team reached the spot and defused it.”

On Monday night the defuse operation was led by AC Mahmuduzzaman of Bomb Disposal Unit, CTTC Dhaka.

District Police Assistant Superintendent Mehdi Imran Siddiqui said the bomb was an Improvised Exclusive Device (IED) bomb and was successfully defused.

An investigation has started and the culprits would be arrested soon, he further said.
