IGP hopes continuous US support for police training

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam on Thursday hoped that the USA would continue support to different training programmes of the Bangladesh police force.

He said this while a six-member US embassy delegation led by Daniel Bleakmore, regional security officer of the US Embassy in Dhaka, paid a courtesy call on him at Police Headquarters, reports BSS.

Other members of the delegation were senior FSN Investigator Nabil Mahmud, Assistant Legal Attache, FBI/LEGAT Robert Cameron, Security Investigator Md Aminul Islam, Law Enforcement Assistant Attache, ICITAP Michael Hintz and Department of Justice, ICITAP Program Management Specialist Tanik Munir.

The IGP thanked the US government for extending support in various training programmes of Bangladesh police, hoping that the support would also continue in future.

During the meeting, they emphasised on contemporary training at home and abroad as well as logistics support for Bangladesh police to combat rising crime, cybercrime, money laundering, transnational crime, human trafficking and protecting human rights, crisis management and maintaining law and order.
