The nation on Friday celebrated Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year 1430, upholding the rich cultural values and rituals of the Bangalees.
The festivities of the day began at 6:15am under the Banyan tree at Ramna (Ramna Batamul) in Dhaka with the artistes from Chhayanaut welcoming the day with songs and poetry recitations.
The first day of the Bangla calendar was also celebrated following its all rituals along with bringing out the traditional Mangal Shobhajatra. The procession was brought out by the Fine Art faculty of Dhaka University and moved around the campus.
