Indictment hearing in mountaineer Reshma hit-and-run case on Apr 5

A Dhaka court has set April 5 for the charge framing hearing against driver SM Darus Salam in a case filed over the murder of mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna in a hit-and-run incident near parliament on August 7 last year.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas fixed the new date as the counsel of the accused filed a time plea before the court on Wednesday.

Earlier on December 29 last year, police submitted a charge-sheet against SM Darus Salam in connection with the case.

On August 30 last year, Darus Salam, who was the driver of a microbus that crushed Reshma Nahar Ratna to death in the capital city, gave his confessional statement before a Dhaka court.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari recorded the confessional statement. Darus Salam was sent to jail afterwards.

On August 7, Reshma Nahar Ratna, 34, a mountaineer and teacher of Ayub Ali Govt Primary School, was killed after a microbus hit her bicycle on Sher-e-Bangla Nagar lake road.

Doctors declared her dead after being taken to a hospital.
